Types of body jewelry

Barbell and Curved Barbell-

Barbells are available in a variety of gauges, lengths, and colors. Straight or curved bar with two balls one on each end, and can be internally or externally threaded.

made of 316L surgical steel, acrylic, gold, etc. They can be worn in many different piercings; however, a curved barbell is sometimes the better option.

Captive Bead Ring (CBR)/ Captive hoops

Cbr's come in many different colors, styles, and gauges. Circle shaped rings with a ball that locks in place. They can be worn in many different areas - earlobes, cartilage piercings, nipples, nostrils, septum’s, genital piercings, and more.

Different types of cbr's:

Spring loaded- The bead is spring loaded pushing two balls out word allowing it to compress and expand. They compress when installing and expand to lock into the divots on the ring itself. These are usually easier to install, but usually more expensive.

Non-Spring loaded- The bead or ball has two divots and the ring locks into the divots. The price on this type of jewelry is cheaper than spring loaded beads; however, installing them on larger gauges is not as easy.
Come in a variety of materials (titanium, 316L surgical steel, gold, acrylic, etc.)

Horseshoes/Circular barbells-

These are similar in shape to the cbr, but are not a full circle. Horseshoes have two screw on ends, usually a ball or spike. Different shapes and styles of ends are available and can be worn in almost any piercing.
Made from a variety of materials (surgical steel, acrlic, etc).

Gauge Ear Plugs and Tunnels-

Plugs are usually cylinder shaped; however, many new shapes such as tear drops, triangles, etc. are becoming more popular. Available in variety of styles, gauges, and colors. Plugs are very popular for people with gauged ear piercings. Plugs are measure by their diameter.
 types of plugs:

Single flare plugs- one flared end and have a rubber o-ring on the back to keep it in.

Double flare plugs- flared on both ends to keep in place. Wiggle to insert and remove.

Non-flared plugs- no flares requires rubber o-ring on front and back to keep it in place.

Tunnels or flesh tunnels come in the same types as plugs, but the middle is hollow so you can see through them. Sometime gently stretching with old plugs will help the insertion of the bigger gauge.

Ear Plugs and flesh tunnels come in acrylic, glass, stainless steel, titanium, and organic materials such as wood, bone, and stone.

Labret Stud-

Labet jewelry is usually a small post with a flat disc and spike or ball on the other end. A labret stud can also be worn in a cartilage piercing (conch), earlobe, and elsewhere.

Made of surgical steel, titanium, etc..

Nipple Shields-

Nipple rings/ shields are often worn for their looks and are generally worn with a barbell.  The piercing holes are lined up and the barbell is inserted through the nipple shield and then through the piercing.

Nose Screw-

Nose screws are one of the most common pieces of jewelry for wearing in the nose. The nose screw is similiar to the nose stud, but have a half circle twist at the bottom to hold it in place. A right curve bends counter clockwise when you look at it and is meant for a left nostril, whereas a left curve is the exact opposite. It is possible to use a nose stud and bend it to form a curve similiar to the nose screw.
Inserting and removing a nose screw can be a little tricky. To insert, place the curved end into the hole and twist it, then lift up, toward your face and gently push it in to the hole.
Most common nose screws are gold, titanium, and surgical steel.

Nose Bone-

Nose jewelry usually with a jewel/shape at the top with a small post or stud. At the bottom there is a small ball to hold it in place. Nose bones can be slighty painful when removing so they are not recommended if you switch your nose ring out a lot.

Segment rings-

Rings that have a removable segment that pops out, once in place the segment is nearly invisible giving the appearance of a solid ring with a seamless look.

Claws, Spirals, Talons, twist-

Gauge ear jewelry that comes in many shapes and gauges. Some styles are spirals, twist, tear drops, claws, etc. Their are many different styles with really weird shapes!Recommended for stretched earlobes, but can be used in other piercings.
Constructed from many different materials a alot are organics such as wood, bone, stone. Also many acrylic and surgical steel styles can be found.
